Day 1: Radical Dreamery – A Weekend with Precious Okoyomon
Divide and Dissolve– Concert
Friday, May 23, 8 pm
Born in Texas and raised in Melbourne, the multi-instrumentalist and composer Takiaya Reed is the head of the doom metal band Divide and Dissolve. She composed the sound for the second floor of Okoyomon’s exhibition in Bregenz. In April 2025, the band released their latest studio album, Insatiable. The title of the album appeared to Takiya Reed in a dream: to be “insatiable” – a quality that, depending on how we live it out, leads to absolute destruction or complete compassion. Gentle saxophone sounds resound between thunderous drums and guitar riffs. For Divide and Dissolve, music is a universal language and a powerful means to permanently overcome the negative effects of colonialism and racism. “It’s an album about love,” Reed explains, “and it feels important to address love, now more than ever.”
